Three police officers of the Dedigama police station have been hospitalized due to an acid attack.

The attack was carried out when the police officers attempted to arrest an individual in Thunthota who has been issued with a warrant.

The acid attack was carried out allegedly by the spouse of the individual.

It was revealed before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Rashmi Singappuli that fifty persons out of the 109 who were released on bail on the charge of human smuggling last year had travelled to Australia illegally yet again.

This was brought to the attention of the Colombo Chief Magistrate when the remaining suspects were produced before courts.
The Chief Magistrate cancelled the bail granted to the suspects and issued warrants for their arrest.
