Double Speak With Forked Tongue: A Response To Ambassador Jaliya
2013-03-30
Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya is a first cousin of the President and that is the only reason he has been given this posting which he is clearly incompetent.

The article “A Role For Sri Lanka In US Pivot To Asia” reverses the foreign policy of GOSL by promoting full alliances with USA when they are already close allies with China and undermining US and Indian foreign policy in the Indian ocean. Perfect example of double speak with their forked tongue. I doubt the US or India would trust the Rajapakse regime any m

Consequences of the UNHRC resolution

Q: With regards to the United Nations Human Rights Council sessions, you have stated something along the lines of;  we have made enemies of our friends and become friends with our enemies, could you start off by elaborating on that statement?
I don’t think that we have become friends with them, because I don’t see any country in the world as an enemy of Sri Lanka. But Sri Lanka does have enemies and those are the hardcore fanatics we see in Tamil Nadu, who are becoming

Splendid Collection On Constitutional Issues
2013-03-30
May 1972 was undoubtedly a ‘constitutional moment’ as the editor of this mammoth two volume publication has correctly stated. Many people were excited about it including myself at that time, but the new republican constitution (1972) did not bring about the expected results, except the so-called ‘constitutional revolution.’ It couldn’t capture the aspirations of the youth who rebelled in April state oppression by democratising the state structures. Some of these aspirations are articulated by Li
