2015 Mar 06

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj arrived in Sri Lanka today on a two day official visit, an official from the Foreign Ministry said.

Swaraj is expected to hold discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera during her tour in the island nation.

Swaraj arrived in the country to pave way for a visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 13. Modi is expected to address the Sri Lankan Parliament on the day he arrives and apart from holding bilateral discussions with the President, Prime Minister and other political officials, will tour the war ravaged northern district, the ancient city of Anuradhapura and the tourist city of Kandy during his three day official visit.
