UK hopes Lankans respect all faiths

2014 Jul 30

Britain today urged Sri Lanka to respect differences of faith or opinion as Muslims celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr.

The British High Commissioner to Colombo John Rankin, in a message to mark Eid-ul-Fitr, said that it is a time of celebration, marking the end of a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and charity – all of which embodies the true spirit of Islam

“I hope that the people of Sri Lanka will come together at this time of celebration, respecting differences of faith or opinion,” he said.

The High Commissioner wished all Sri Lankans for Eid and expressed hope it will be happy and peaceful. (Colombo Gazette)
