A parliamentary delegation headed for Sri Lanka on an official visit within a framework of a tour, which includes Brunei, starting on Monday until June 8th.
Prior to their departure to Sri Lanka, Head of the delegation, Deputy Parliament Speaker Mubarak Al-Khurainej said, in a press statement, that their visit comes at the invitation of Sri Lankan Deputy Parliament Speaker Chandima Weerakkody, aiming to increase bilateral parliamentary cooperation, as well as to coordinate on overall issues of joint interest on regional and international arenas.
The visit also falls within the framework of following up on joint relations in various areas and finding ways to strengthening them, the MP said, adding that deepening joint cooperation ties with Sri Lanka is one of the current stage's requirements in order to increase trade, economic, tourist, scientific, and cultural cooperation.
Al-Khurainej also mentioned that the Kuwaiti-Sri Lankan relations have always been distinctive and directed towards their desired and hoped goals on all levels for the benefit of the people of both countries, adding that the two countries' bilateral relations are in constant development.
He expressed hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries would be boosted through "reciprocal visits in order to attain current stage's goals and provide the appropriate environment for establishing a genuine partnership on ground, stemming from both countries' joint interest." The delegation includes MPs Dr. Mohammad Al-Huwaila, Saleh Ashour, Hamdan Al-Azemi, Majed Al-Mutairi and Mohammad Al-Hadiya. (end)
