Double standards seen in Geneva

2014 Mar 18

The Government says the double standards of some countries can be seen through their actions in Geneva.

Government spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran should be seen as a terrorist like Osama Bin Laden.

He said that no one opposed a demonstration staged in Geneva recently against the Sri Lankan Government by a group of people who were carrying pictures of the slain LTTE leader.

The Minister said that if a similar protest was staged in support of Osama Bin Laden then there would have been opposition raised to it by most countries.

Rambukwella said the Government is meanwhile ready to face any challenge at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

He said the Government is taking measures to deal with the resolution sponsored by a group of countries and will deal with it step by step.
