2014 Mar 01

An investigation has been launched into the human bones found in Mullaitivu, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said today.

The police spokesman said that the human bones of nine people had been found when private land in Pudukuduiruppu was being cleared last evening.

He said the Acting Magistrate in Mullaitivu and Judicial Medical Officer from Jaffna visited the location and conducted inquiries.

The human bones have been sent for further investigations. The police spokesman said that an identity card was also recovered from the location.

The police spokesman said that the area was under LTTE control for 20 years before it was captured by the army in 2009.
