Police name man who harboured Tangalle PS chief

Police yesterday revealed the identity of the person who had harboured wanted accused, Tangalle Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Sampath  Chandrapushpa Vidanapathirana.

 "The last hideout the suspect was at the residence of Milantha Karunasena at 99/1, Thalawatugoda Road, Pitakotte," Police Spokeman SSP Ajith Rohana said. "Milantha has three garment factories, one at his residence."

Vidanapatirana and several others have been indicted in the Colombo High Court with the murder of British national, Khuram Shaikh and rape of his Russian girlfriend at a Tangalle holiday resort on Christmas Eve 2011.  

SSP Rohana said Vidanapathiran had been there for about one week and the CID was conducting investigations to trace all the places where the suspect had been ]and all those who sheltered him would be charged for harbouring a fugitive.

The next hearing was postponed to three consecutive days, on March 25, 26, and 27 this year.
