No breakthrough in Delft PC Chairman's murder

2013 Dec 02

Statements have been recorded from over ten individuals but there is yet to be a breakthrough on investigations on the murder of Delft Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman, Daniel Rexian, Police spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said.
Speaking to The Nation, SSP Rohana said the investigations were carried out by the CID. “There has been no breakthrough. But the investigations are continuing,” he said. Meanwhile, the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) said it was unaware of the motive behind the killing and hence it was difficult to say whether it was politically motivated or not.

The victim known as Rajiv, one of the prominent EPDP members, had been killed on November 27 at his residence in Delft. Investigations into the murder have been handed over to the CID, which deployed a special team to probe the incident.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) for Jaffna Dr. S. Sivaruben, following the autopsy had said that Rexian was shot in the head from behind with a 9mm gun. (AW)
