An autopsy has revealed that several organs of a thirty-year-old Sri Lankan woman who died in Kuwait while being employed as a domestic aide have been removed. The examination was carried out after the woman’s body was brought to country on November 20.

The deceased has been identified as R. Shanika, a resident of the Lunugamwehera. The deceased, a mother of one, had left for Kuwait in December 2012. It was reported that a fellow Sri Lankan who was employed as a driver at the same house in Kuwait had informed Shanika’s relatives that she had passed away on November 3.

Accordingly, her body had been brought back to Sri Lanka on November 20. The police had subsequently informed the Negombo Magistrate that they suspected foul play in the woman’s death. An autopsy initially revealed internal haemorrhage in Shanika’s body. Shanika’s relatives are calling for an independent investigation into this incident.
