Attempts to target Muslims

2013 Oct 24

Minister Rishad Badurdeen has warned that there is an attempt to create a rift between Muslims and Buddhists in the country.

The Minister says a handful of people who claim they are doing service to Buddhists are the ones attempting to target Muslims.

He said that Muslims have stood by the country from the time of the war and should not be seen as the enemy of the state.

“The Muslims have never supported attempts to divide this country or do anything against the country,” he said.

Badurdeen recalled that Muslim leaders had even gone to Geneva and obtained the support of Muslim countries for Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council.

“These Muslims had supported every move by the President to bring peace to this country,” Badurdeen added. (Colombo Gazette)
