Lankan refugee a murder suspect

One of the three students involved in the killing of an engineering college principal in India belongs to a family of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, The Hindu newspaper reported.

G. Danish (21), a final year B.Tech (Information Technology) student, hails from a family living in the camp at Okkur in Sivaganga district in Tuticorin, police said.

His father is a painter by profession and his family is living in the refugee camp since he was four. The father of the main suspect, P. Pitchaikannan (21) of Nazareth, is working as a manager in a Cooperative Bank at Tiruchendur. Pitchaikannan is a final year student of Aeronautical Engineering.

The third suspected assailant, M. Prabakaran (21) of Nagapattinam, is doing his third year Civil Engineering. He hails from a poor family and his father is a farm labourer, a police officer investigating the case said.
