Navi Pillay to make oral statement on Lankan visit at UN General Assembly

The United Nations Human Rights Chief, Navanethem Pillay will address the ongoing UN Human Rights Council Session today. The UN Human Rights Chief will make an oral statement on her recent visit to Sri Lanka.

Speaking to Newsfirst, Commissioner of Human Rights Commission in Sri Lanka Prathiba Mahanamehewa said that a vote will not be conducted on the verbal statement today.

Meanwhile, Attorney General Palitha Fernando said that two senior officers attached to his Department are participating at the UN Human Rights Council Session in Geneva to face problems that arise there.

Additional Solicitor General Jayantha Jayasooriya and Deputy Solicitor General Dileep Nawaz are at the sessions.
