The complaint lodged by the Sri Lanka Teachers Union to the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission regarding the incident where a deputy teacher was appointed to fill the vacancy for a principal at the Vauniya Settikulam Vdyalaya, was taken up for examination on Monday.

The complaint was lodged by General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Teachers Union.

The complaint read that vacancies were called on  March 29 20l2 for the principal of the Settikulama School and several officers had applied for the post.

However, on July 6, 2012 a deputy teacher had been appointed for the post.

Meanwhile Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of SLTU stated,

“We explained many times to the provincial governor that this is wrong. He said he will rectify this many times: but he didn’t. Additional secretaries representing the the Northern Provincial Education Secretary complained about this. We told him this is a human rights violation. This is why we decided to lodge a complaint. We requested the Northern Provincial Education Minister to give their decision in l4 days. We believe that this decision will be given soon"
