SLHRC to interview clergy in Rathupaswala on drinking water issue

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has decided to interview civil service organisations and clergy in the Rathupaswala area where a tense situation that arose pertaining to a problem with the provision of clean drinking water.
Legal Secretary to the SLHRC Attorney at law Nimal Punchihewa said that these groups have been summoned to the Commission next week.

A group of representatives from several state organisations were summoned before the SLHRC previously for the inquiry in to the tense situation that arose in Rathupaswala.

Attorney-at-Law Nimal Punchihewa said that further investigations into the incident were being conducted after interviewing the related parties.

He noted that SLHRC investigation officers have been deployed to investigate into this matter.
