Education sector found to feature prominently in Bribery Commission complaints

The Commissions to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption says that the highest number of complaints have been received on the education sector, this year so far.
 Director General of the Commission Lakshmi Jayawickrama said that a considerable amount of complaints too have been received on politicians.
Chairman of the Yatiyanthota Pradeshiya Sabha was arrested on charges of bribery on Friday.
The Commission said the suspect was arrested while soliciting a bribe of Rs.15,000 from a businessman to provide a license for a poultry farm.

The Chairman of the Walalawita Pradeshiya Sabha was also arrested on charges of bribery recently. He was placed under remand custody after being produced before the courts.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption Lakshmi Jayawickrama said that they have paid attention on amending the existing laws of the commission.
