Police tops Transparency International list of most corrupt public institutes in SL

A survey conducted by Transparency International reveals that the police have been rated as the most corrupt institution in the country once again.

Transparency International's Global Corruption Barometer is the largest world wide public opinion survey on corruption.

The 2013 Barometer reflects the response of more than 114,000 people in 107 countries.

According to the Global Corruption Barometer 2013, 64 percent of Sri Lankan respondents said that there has been an increase in corruption in the country in the past two years.

Acting Chairman of Transparency International in Sri Lanka S. Ranukge said that 19% of the people said that they had to pay a bribe in order to receive Police support.
