When women take front, there's trouble - Speaker

2013 Jul 11

Hon. Speaker of the parliament Chamal Rajapaksa says that when a woman takes the helm, some times it becomes difficult to cope up at work.

Mr. Rajapaksa made this comment at the Women parliamentarians association assembly which took place today at the parliamentary complex with the patronage of Minister Sumedha D. Jayasena.

Hon. Speaker also said that when a woman takes a higher position, she tends not to listen to anyone. He said that such a woman always spreads her authority everywhere and it doesn't lead to a fair situation.

Premier D.M. Jeyarathne and the leader of the opposition Ranil Wickramasinghe also joined the occasion.

Expressing his views Mr. Wickramasinghe said that a women's board should be appointed to look after the welfare of the women in Sri Lanka.
And PM Jayarathne said that in the current society, the religion is still remaining only because of women. And he concluded his speech by relating women to an old poem.
