Basil Rajapaksa says expenditure of the country has increased

2013 Jul 03

Minister of Economic Development, Basil Rajapaksa says that the expenditure of the country has increased in comparison to previous years.

The Minister made this statement at a function held in Dambulla on Monday.
A function was held to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a bridge across the Thammannaela in the Galmatiyawa area in Dambulla.

The estimated cost for the construction of the bridge is Rs.2.4 million rupees.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa expressed these views
"Some may purchase lorries, vans and motorcycles while certain others will purchase three-wheelers, thereby increasing on spending. Income should increase with the expenditure. The expenditure of the country is increasing. For instance the number of barrels of oil that were brought when the President came into power, has increased today by threefolds. The number of barrels have increased and the price has also increased. Therefore, foreign exchange is essential. We need to export goods in order for revenue to flow into the country. It is only through this can we bring down oil. If not we must stop importing goods."
