Sri Lanka's Bar Association lunches monthly tabloid newspaper to build public opinion

2013 Jul 02

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has launched its first monthly tabloid newspaper The Bar Reporter.

The Bar Reporter was released at a ceremony held in Colombo last Friday.

BASL President, Upul Jayasuriya presented the first copy of the newspaper to Chief Guest, senior President's Counsel and a former Bar Association President N.M.R. Daluwatte.

Editor of the newspaper, S.P. Sriskantha has said the main aim of the newspaper is to help build public opinion in the long term.

He has noted that if people are aware of their rights they would not be misled to participate in the rallies supporting the electricity price hikes, or welcome a politician who made a teacher kneel down.

According to Sriskantha, the Bar Reporter would work towards building a strong public opinion among society about their rights.

The Bar Association also launched its improved website on Friday.
