BASL launches 'The Bar Reporter'

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) launched ‘The Bar Reporter’ - the newspaper of the BASL last evening (28).

The launch was held at a glittering ceremony at the Kingsbury Hotel.

Senior President’s Counsel and former BASL President – Mr. N.R.M. Daluwatte, PC, attended the event as chief guest.

The first copy of the ‘The Bar Reporter’ was handed over to Mr. Daluwatte by current BASL President – Mr. Upul Jayasuriya.

In addition, the official site of the BASL was re-launched by President’s Counsel - Wijayadasa Rajapakse.

Further, the sms service was also launched at the event by President’s Counsel - Upali Guneratne.

Speaking, Editor-in-Chief of the ‘The Bar Reporter’ – Mr. S.P. Sriskantha said: “We have about 14,000 lawyers in this country and this is sent free by post to all our members far and wide…in Sri Lanka and abroad. So there will be a very wide circulation…”

He also said that the publication would be devoid of trashy content but would include content to educate the public of their rights as well as important court rulings.
