No secret weapons training at Kattankudy: Minister Hisbullah assures Bodu Bala Sena

2013 Jul 01

From M.A. Kaleel, Kalmunai Corr.

Deputy Minister of Economic Development M.L.A.M. Hisbullah yesterday said he would soon send an official invitation to Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) to visit Kattankudy, a predominately Muslim area to see for themselves what the Muslims were doing there.

Minister Hisbullah was addressing Jammiyathul Ullemas (Muslim theologians) in Kattankudy

The minister said that the BBS could visit prominent Arabic colleges and Mosques there to see whether these institutions were promoting religious extremism as well as training terrorists as alleged by various interested parties.

He alleged that the BBS had been cultivating anti-Islamic sentiments among the Sinhalese due to their ignorance of Islamic religious and cultural values. While ruling out a possible confrontation with the BBS, the Minister said that he welcomed the BBS making an on the spot examination without resorting to hate mongering.
