SL Ministry to request Britain to remove payment of bond fee

The Sri Lankan Ministry of External Affairs is due to make a request to the Government of Great Britain to remove the bond that Sri Lankans have to pay when entering the country.

Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs, Karunathilaka Amunugama noted that discussions in this regard would be held with the British High Commissioner today.
The Sri Lankan government would officially submit their request during this discussion.

Earlier, reports emerged that the UK has brought in legislation which makes it mandatory for citizens of several countries including Sri Lanka to place a bond of 3000 pounds prior to entering the United Kingdom.
