CPC rejects substandard diesel shipment

2013 Jun 27

A ship with 40,000 metric tons of substandard diesel has been rejected by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) which has decided to send it back, an official said.

The consignment which arrived at the Colombo Harbour from Dubai on Saturday (June 22) was subject to thorough tests and inspections, the Commercial Manager of CPC A.P. Samaraweera said.

The test results had later revealed that the shipment contained substandard diesel.

The supplier has agreed to take back the 40,000 metric tons of substandard diesel and provide quality diesel instead, he said, while assuring that this would not cause a diesel shortage in the country.
