Case charging Minister Bathiudeen of contempt of court taken up

The case pertaining to charges of contempt of court against Minister Rishad Bathiudeen regarding incident invoiving the Mannar Magistrate's Court, was taken up in the Court of Appeal on Monday.

The case was taken up before a bench comprising of the President of the Court of Appeal Sri Skanderejah and Justice Malani Gunaratne.
The Court referred the case to Court Room 107 of the Court of Appeal and will be taken up before Justices Sisira de Abrew and P.W.D.C. Jayathilaka.
The case was filed by two President's Counsels and five other lawyers, claiming that Minister Rishad Bathiudeen had attempted to exert pressure over the Mannar Magistrate and was in contempt of court.
