Well-known journalist and the Secretary of the Lake House branch of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS)  Mr Sanjeewa Samarasinghe, was taken in to custody by the CID on Tuesday 27th, 2012 at around 5.15 pm.  A person said to be Inspector of Police, Mr. E. There was NO reason given on the arrest, which is illegal by the law, but told by officer that  he was being taken to the CID to record a statement.
CaFFE and CHR issued the attached statement just minutes after the incident asking  protection and condemning the incident.
WE got to know that Mr. Samarasinha was questioned on:

Mr. Sanjeewa Amarasinghe had for many years worked at Lake House as a journalist as well as he head of the UNP Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya trade union.  He was interdicted by the Lake House administration, a clear politically motivated action  nearly 2 years ago.

Mr. Samarasinghe was Questioned through out the yesterday night, and still kept in the CID, by 6.30 am today (November 28th, 2012).
